Where to Buy
3 San Antonio neighborhoods that boast a good bang for your buck
San Antonio is becoming more popular by the day. According to the San Antonio Board of Realtors, 2016 was a boom year for the market, and home values are rising while inventory is shrinking.
Trulia also recently predicted that San Antonio would be the eighth hottest real estate market to watch in 2017. The current average listing for a home in Alamo City is $295,125, and there are approximately 4,000 homes for sale right now. With such a wide variety of price ranges and amenities, and a lack of inventory, it can be daunting to find an area that gives you the best bang for your buck.
Here are three bang-for-your-buck neighborhoods that we recommend, for a variety of reasons.
Northwest San Antonio
Northwest San Antonio is extremely popular; the area is made up of lots of smaller areas, where inventory moves incredibly quickly and there are typically only a few listings on the market at a any given time. This popularity is largely due to the affordability of the lots, plus a home here is a short 15-minute commute to downtown San Antonio.
One such home is found at 6915 Country Rose. Situated in the pocket of Country View, this beautiful, newly remodeled three-bedroom, two-bathroom home has an upgraded kitchen, open floor plan, and brand-new wood floors. The property is currently listed at $229,900.
Terrell Heights
Terrell Heights is often is lumped into the broader Alamo Heights area, although in many ways, Terrell Heights is a much better option than the more well-known, pricier neighborhoods to the south and east. The neighborhood currently has an average listing price of $291,975. Neighborhoods like this are becoming increasingly popular among young families, due to the great schools located within the Alamo Heights School District.
One great deal is the property located at 108 Chevy Chase Dr. This three-bedroom, two-bathroom is currently listed at $339,000 and sits on a 8,276 square foot lot. The home features a beautifully landscaped backyard entertaining area with a newly updated porch, as well as a beautiful master suite complete with a Jacuzzi tub.
King William
King William has seen a lot of growth in the last few years. Full of newly remodeled historic homes, this area is perfect for those looking to purchase a home in a walkable area with access to urban amenities and nightlife. However, it is worth noting that many of the available properties in this area are condos, although some small single-family homes can be found.
One such home is the property located at 403 Stieren St., listed at $292,000. Although the home is small, it is located walking distance from many nearby restaurants such as Blue Star and Liberty Bar, so it's a great option for a family seeking an entry-level home in a prime urban location.
