The lowdown: Looking for a luxury living alternative in mid-town San Antonio? Evergreen at Tobin Hill is scheduled to be completed in fall or winter 2020. These stylish urban homes could be exactly what you're looking for.
Located just blocks from the Pearl and Crockett Park, the 13 four-story units respect the Craftsman style of the neighborhood with white residential siding, distinctive concrete accents, and black-rimmed doors and windows. The exterior will be xeriscaped with indigenous flora, with the driveways artfully laid with pavers instead of the typical concrete.
French designer Karine Dessenne thoughtfully designed the interior spaces to accentuate light and volume, with 10-foot ceilings on the second and third floors. An open-air stairway from the first to the fourth floor terrace — there's up to 468 total square feet of outdoor living space — allows light to flow through each floor; balconies on all levels and plentiful windows bring the outdoors in.
Dessenne also chose kitchen cabinetry from Spain, quartz countertops, and Bosch appliances. Early buyers will be able to choose between contemporary and slightly more traditional finishes. One of her innovations opens from the living space on the second floor: a covered outdoor alcove tiled from floor to ceiling in rich, evergreen-colored Moroccan tile.
"It's like being inside an emerald," Dessenne says, "a perfect place to bring guests, do yoga, or share a glass of wine at the end of the day."
On the fourth floor is an enclosed flex room for a second dining space, office, or other use that opens to the rooftop terrace with a kitchenette and views toward the Pearl and downtown. An elevator and dumb waiter are available as upgrades, and two-car garages are standard.
Architects and contractors Rafael and Diego Sanchez of CADS (Contempo Advanced Solutions) Construction, a contemporary-style designer and builder of luxury residences in Stone Oak and the South Texas Valley, planned the Evergreen homes with legacy architecture in mind.
