Central Texas Realtor shares what makes a New Braunfels neighborhood gem so special
A multi-generational Texan, Pam Powell knew immediately upon visiting New Braunfels that it would one day be her home, and in 2002 she made that a reality.
Located within New Braunfels is a unique, gated neighborhood called Copper Ridge, named for the ridge of hills it sits on which offer "the best Hill Country views in the area," according to Powell.
The Kuper Sotheby's International Realty Broker Associate is somewhat of an expert on the community, having sold lots of homes within it during her nearly two decades in real estate.
"Copper Ridge is made up of custom-built homes and customized production builder homes," she says. "From Hill Country to Tuscan to contemporary, Copper Ridge has it! The spacious lots of one or more acres provide a serene feeling of comfort and tranquility."
Powell also praises the area's sense of community, noting that residents often gather at the pool, on the tennis courts, or the walking trails. It's easy to join a wine or book club, and participate in plenty of other activities.
"The community is only minutes away from shopping and major highways," she notes. "You don't have to go far to experience the beauty of the Hill Country, Canyon Lake, boating, camping, or just a drive to see the famous wildflowers of central Texas."
Below are a few of Powell's picks for the best spots in this hot area, as well as a recent home she sold in the area.
Eating and drinking
Like most locals, Powell enjoys a day spent at Krause's Beer Garden and a night out at The Gristmill or Gruene Hall. There's also The Reel, Texas Bistro, Macadoo's, The Huisache, Muck and Fuss, and Sidecar — definitely not a shortage of eateries and nightlife to enjoy.
Arts and culture
Museums abound here, from the Museum of Handmade Texas Furniture to the Sophienburg Museum to the Art League. Downtown is quite charming, while the 10-day Wurstfest celebrates the area's German roots.
Outdoors and recreation
It wouldn't be New Braunfels without mentioning Schlitterbahn Water Park or the Guadalupe and Comal rivers, but don't forget about the nearby John Newcombe Country Club, T Bar M, and Landa Park.
