Deep Texas roots afford this Realtor valuable insight into the San Antonio market
For Kuper Sotheby's Realtor Kerri Hoermann, it all comes back to a motto: "love where ya live."
She makes sure that this notion is at the forefront of every real estate transaction she's involved in, whether it's finding someone their dream home or using cutting-edge trends to get her sellers top dollar.
Hoermann began her real estate career in 2004, when she and her husband followed her family's deep Texas roots and settled in San Antonio. She knew immediately that her focus would never be about "the deal," but rather about building long-lasting relationships with her clients and digging deep into their goals and dreams so she could match them with their ideal house. The goal, even from early on, was for everyone to love where they live.
In 2007, Hoermann obtained her broker's license, and then went on to earn the designations of Certified Negotiation Expert, Certified Residential Specialist, and Graduate Realtor Institute. Gathering these professional extras required additional classes and high levels of production, but going above and beyond isn't unusual for Hoermann.
She and her husband, both proud Texas A&M Fightin' Aggies, also find time to volunteer in their community and with their church in between raising their three children.
We chatted with Hoermann to find out more about her work and what drives her.
CultureMap: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to people looking for their dream home?
KH: Take the time to search and trust your gut. I believe everything happens for a reason, so if you’re running into a lot of obstacles then you may be hitting a legitimate road block that is there for a reason. Also, your gut will tell you things about a house or a transaction, and I think your gut feeling is oftentimes right.
CM: And advice to those who are selling?
KH: Hire a professional, like myself, who will tell you the truth. You should not hire someone who wants to inflate the price of your home, because statistics show you typically net less when you do that. Your agent should show you real sales data and use that information to price your home accurately. This results in less time on the market, fewer headaches with strangers coming into your home, and an overall easier experience.
CM: Sum up San Antonio in three words.
KH: Small town feel.
CM: What do you consider your "special skill"?
KH: I can read people really well, and I set realistic expectations. Paying attention to the details of what people are saying helps me determine what motivates them, which in turn is useful during negotiations.By breaking down my clients' options, educating them with facts, and then giving them the different scenarios that could occur, they are always well informed and prepared.
CM: Finish this sentence: "It's a good day when..."
KH: I make my clients happy, and get to come home to spend quality time with my family.
