Kodak Black pop-up lights up shuttered San Antonio music venue

Kodak Black will headline a flood benefit show at the former Rustic music venue.
San Antonio’s The Rustic is coming back to life — at least for three days in August. The shuttered Rim restaurant and music venue is hosting a series of live benefit shows featuring hitmakers like Kodak Black, Melii, and Austin Mahome.
The Summer Nights at the Rim pop-up series rolls in on August 1 with the Tunnel Vision rapper and friends. The bill also features R&B singers Paula de Anda and AJ Hernz, and DJ Showtime. Several of the performers have Texas roots, including Hernz and Mahome, who both grew up in Alamo City.
On August 2, Bronx De la Ghetto will bring Latin trap to the venue, followed by a country showcase on August 3. The latter is headlined by San Marcos native Gunnar Latham with Clay Hollis, Isaac Jacob, Matt Castillo, and the Teague Brothers.

Both the August 1 and 3 shows benefit Kerr County flood relief efforts through Texas nonprofits the RamHeart Foundation and the Christian Assistance Ministries of Hill County, respectively.
Another series of shows has been announced for the weekend of August 22-24 at what is temporarily being dubbed the Rim Event Venue. The lineup for those shows has yet to be announced by local event producer Power Gate.
The Rustic mysteriously closed in May 2024 and has shown few signs of life since. Although a sign posted on the door during the time said the venue was looking for “new opportunities” in a “more accessible and vibrant location,” there are no indications yet that it will open elsewhere. It’s unclear if the abandoned venue will become a permanent concert spot or if the Summer Nights series is simply a momentary use before a new tenant arrives.
Tickets to the shows range from $36.88 to $51.43. Full details and FAQs are available online.
