THRILLS AND CHILLS
Fiesta Texas’ Fright Fest unleashes new scares on San Antonio

Ghouls lurk around every corner during Fright Fest.
After Annabelle possibly killed its previous handler, then wound up under the stewardship of controversial E.L.F. spokesmodel Matt Rife, it would seem that San Antonio would have had enough of the cursed doll. Still, the malevolent artifact is dead set on wreaking havoc on Alamo City as one of the attractions at Six Flags Fiesta Texas’ upcoming Fright Fest, running on select nights between September 6 and November 2.
Okay, so the real Annabelle probably won’t be lurking around the amusement park. The supposedly demonic plaything, discovered by paranormal “investigators” Ed and Lorraine Warren, is actually a Raggedy Ann doll with such spooky features as yarn hair, a calico smock, and striped knee socks. But the cinematic interpretation will be one of the jump scares of the Conjuring Universe maze.
If thrill seekers aren’t up to being stalked by a maniacal nun, there are plenty of new mazes to keep them on the edge of their seats. SAW: Legacy of Terror recreates scenes from the splatter franchise, while Nosferatu recreates the moody terror of silent movies. Cinema Slasher enlists filmdom’s fiercest baddies for a high heel-breaking romp through the grounds, and Hexenhaus is a witchy foray into folk horror.
The latter two are sponsored by M&M’s and Snickers, respectively. See, your dentist was right to warn you about candy.

Returning mazes include the ever-popular Conjuring Universe and Twisted: Theater of Torment (presented by Skittles), an ill-fated evening of puppetry. Fiesta Texas will also bring back its popular Scare Zones, where scare actors skulk in themed areas like Carnival of Terrors, Fear Acres, Wicked Hollow, Hell Valley Cemetery, Rockville Festival of Fright, and Steampunkins. Cute!
Throughout the festivities, guests can dare to watch some sinister live entertainment like Crossroads, “a boot-stomping stage show with a sinister Southern twist,” and The Arrival, where “monsters descend upon Crackaxle Canyon in a fear-filled kickoff.” Interactive lanterns will be scattered across the park with “hidden scares and immersive surprises.”
Daytime hours are a little less spine-tingling, so kids can join in on the Halloween fun. The activities include a trick-or-treat trail, a crafts corner, character meet-and-greets, and a new show that tells the story of three Spectral Sisters. It’s probably not about Kim, Khloé, and Kourtney Kardashian.

Lastly, Fiesta Texas visitors who want less spook and more spice can traipse around Oktoberfest. They’ll find beer tapping ceremonies, German snacks, and oompah around every corner.
“This fall marks a bold new chapter for Six Flags Fiesta Texas,” promises Robert Bustle, park manager of Six Flags Fiesta Texas, in a release. “Fright Fest brings elevated scares, iconic stories, and immersive environments that transform the park at night. By day, Tricks and Treats delivers a fresh take on family Halloween fun, and Oktoberfest returns with the food, music, and tradition our guests love. It’s our most well-rounded and dynamic seasonal lineup to date.”
