Crown Jewel
Yet another publication names San Antonio one of world's best places to go in 2018
Another day, another accolade for Alamo City. After being declared one of the best places in the world to visit by National Geographic and Travel + Leisure, San Antonio has been declared one of Frommer's "Best Places to Go in 2018."
"Whether you're strolling the fab River Walk, one of America's first and most important works of citizen-led urban planning; touring one of the city's history-rich founding missions; eating some of the best Tex-Mex in the nation; or paying your respects at the Alamo, a San Antonio vacation feels like a real holiday," the stalwart travel guide writes.
Frommer's editors tapped travel writers from around the world in order to determine the hottest spots. Joining San Antonio on the list are exotic locales like Brisbee, Australia; County Clare, Ireland; and the country of Jordan. Two other U.S. cities — New Orleans and Juneau, Alaska — also took top accolades.
Though the nation's attention is undoubtedly turning to SA in preparation of our upcoming tricentennial celebration, we can't help but think these recent accolades are also thanks to our burgeoning culinary scene, world-class museums, and cutting edge arts scene. It's a theory seconded by Frommer's: "Many of San Antonio's triumphs are still ahead of it."
