Botanical Garden Guide
San Antonio Botanical Garden blooms with can't-miss events this fall
The San Antonio Botanical Garden will definitely be abuzz with butterflies and other delightful happenings this fall as the weather cools off and people visit to see the fall flowers.
"We have a lot of exciting events happening at the garden this fall, from Brews and Blooms on September 10 to Winged Wonders, which runs through October 30," says Connie Swann, director of marketing.
"Guests can enjoy a self-guided experience throughout the garden where we highlight plants that attract pollinators. If you're interested in creating your own butterfly garden at home, you can take a look at what you can plant to attract butterflies and pollinators like hummingbirds and bees — it's a great way to see how plants grow and see butterflies too."
Here's a look at the upcoming free and ticketed events happening at the garden:
Winged Wonders
In honor of its role as an Official Monarch Waystation, the Botanical Garden is highlighting the importance of Monarch butterflies and other "winged wonders" through the end of October. Stop in during one of the remaining family-friendly programs for stories, crafts, games, and more. Free with garden admission.
September 10 and September 24 at 10 am
Fall plant sales
Peruse more than 200 varieties of plants grown by plant sale volunteers at upcoming morning plant sales. Guests can choose from plant varieties to accent their own home gardens or create a beautiful yard that’s habitat-friendly for birds and butterflies. Unusual varieties include Salvia misella, Texas craglily, native passion vine, mistflower, and many more butterfly favorites. Admission to the sale is free with paid admission to the garden.

Chipotle Sustainable Film Series
Guests to the garden can enjoy free viewings of Inhabit: A Permaculture Perspective and Island Earth as part of this year's Chipotle Sustainable Film Series. Both movies will explore environmental issues related to agriculture. Bring your own seating to the picnic, and enjoy complimentary chips and salsa while supplies last.
