'Landman' actress lends helping hand at San Antonio Food Bank

Paulina Chávez is doing her part to fight food insecurity in San Antonio.
One of the stars of TV megahit Landman recently rolled up her sleeves to fight food insecurity in the Alamo City. Paulina Chávez, who plays Ariana Medina on the Paramount+ drama, recently volunteered at the San Antonio Food Bank’s Community Kitchen at Haven for Hope.
“Paulina joined our Hunger Fighters in helping nourish neighbors with dignity, care, and compassion,” wrote the food bank on social media. “When our community comes together like this, hope is always on the menu. Thank you, Paulina, for standing with our neighbors and helping fight hunger across Southwest Texas.”
Chávez is no stranger to San Antonio. Born in El Paso, she spent her formative years here. She attended Sky Harbor Elementary School on the South Side, where she first caught the acting bug in drama classes. Seeing her early talent, her family made frequent commutes to Dallas so she could learn under acting coach Cathryn Sullivan, who has worked with Texas child stars such as Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez.

After success on Netflix series like The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia and Fate: The Winx Saga, she is now a fan favorite on Landman. For those not obsessed with the Taylor Sheridan universe, she plays the budding love interest of Cooper Norris, the son of Billy Bob Thornton’s ruthless oilman, Tommy Norris.
Photos from Chávez’s volunteer day show her packing sandwiches on an assembly line with a small crew. According to the food bank’s most recent impact report, 76,979 less famous volunteers followed the actress’ example of lending a hand in 2025. The need is acute in Texas, which has the highest food-insecure population in the U.S., one in six households.
In 2025, the San Antonio Food Bank distributed almost 75 million meals in Bexar and surrounding counties, while also running nutrition classes and workforce programs. San Antonians can learn more about the organization’s services or how to give money, time, or nonperishable foods online.
