Giving back
Tobin Center gears up for annual curbside donation drive for San Antonio Food Bank
Living amid a pandemic, dealing with economic fallout, and surviving a contentious election season is enough to make many feel like hibernating until the new year. But the holidays are upon us, and, perhaps this year more than ever, you're looking for ways to give back.
This week, from November 19-20, the Tobin Center is opens its doors, erm, driveway for a special charity event. Tobin Cares, the charitable arm of the legendary venue, is hosting the third-annual Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit the San Antonio Food Bank.
"In these most trying times for many families in the San Antonio community, we felt it was more important than ever to come together to help and support the San Antonio Food Bank," says Tobin Cares in a news release.
Tobin Cares has also identified the 12 most in-demand items:
- Peanut butter
- Cereal
- Tuna
- Beans
- Rice
- Mac 'n' cheese
- Chili
- Canned stews
- Canned soups
- Canned luncheon meats
- Full meals can/box
- Pop top food items
In addition to the warm and fuzzy feeling that comes with doing good for others, participants will also drive away with an official 2020 Fiesta medal for their donation.
Donations this year will be accepted curbside, and can be made directly at 100 Auditorium Circle, near the Valero Entry. Community volunteers will be available to help take the donations.
