The Battle of Bamber Bridge by David Remschel goes back to 1943 and an incident involving U.S. soldiers stationed in England. When the Army asks the pubs in the town of Bamber Bridge to segregate themselves in order to make the U.S. soldiers more comfortable, the pub owners refuse. This leads to conflicts between soldiers and townsfolk that threatens to explode into violence.
