Remembrance is dedicated to the memory of clarinetist and new music advocate, Laura Flax (1951-2017). Legendary composer Shulamit Ran, a close friend of the late clarinetist, will join for this memorial concert to present her new work for solo clarinet in honor of Ms. Flax, performed by SOLI founder Stephanie Key. Also on the program are Ran’s recent work, Birkat Haderekh (Blessing for the Road), Duo for violin and piano by talented young Iranian composer Gity Razaz, and Lenox Ave. by composer/flutist Valerie Coleman, of the Grammy nominated ensemble, Imani Winds.
The February 5 performance will be at Jazz TX, while the February 6 performance will take place at Ruth Taylor Recital Hall on the Trinity University campus.
