Christmas is all about sharing. The San Antonio Chamber Choir has invited the community of choirs from throughout the greater San Antonio area to join the to perform the world premiere of Stacey Gibbs Christmas spiritual medley which includes "I Can Tell the World," "Nowhere to Lay His Head," and "Pretty Little Baby."
Gibbs is a prolific and highly sought-after composer-arranger. Best known for arrangements of spirituals, he is highly acclaimed for his ability to infuse new energy into familiar works without sacrificing their authenticity or power. Maestro Gibbs’ spirituals have been performed by such diverse ensembles as the United States Air Force Sergeants, The St. Olaf Choir, and the Stellenbosch Choir of Africa among countless others internationally.
The concert will include several other pieces with brass choir, including "Christmas Joy" by Stephen Chatman, Daniel Pinkham’s "Christmas Cantata" and "Joy," a weaving together of Beethoven’s stunning "Ode to Joy" and Handel’s "Joy to the World." The subtle tenderness of Christmas will be expressed through music from the Baltics and around the globe.
