The Overtime Theater will present its second installment of the 2022 New Play Development Series: Women’s Voices, featuring new works from female playwrights in celebration of Women’s History Month. The three plays that were selected for a staged reading are Blurred Life by Dawn Xavier-Franklin, Lucky Numbers by Hope Hommersand, and The Reverend Dr. Paul(i) Murray by Ada A.

In Xavier-Franklin’s Blurred Life, a Black nerd (Blerd) gets “played” by the rules about being a wife and mom. But what if focusing on those rules was the problem?

In Hommersand’s one-act comedy Lucky Numbers, a man goes into a convenience store to buy a lottery ticket based on numerology. Will those numbers be the winning combo?

In Ada A.’s compelling one-act play, The Reverend Dr. Paul(i) Murray, a passionate, young student goes back in time to meet the subject of her college paper. Can the modern lens of history help her capture the essence of her subject?
