The Heart of Texas Concert Band continues its annual tradition of presenting a concert in which the programming emulates the style of a regional orchestra. The band will present music composed by three Bohemian (Czech) composers, all of whom gave voice to the musical legacy of their native land.
The concert will begin with Bedřich Smetana’s musical portrait of Bohemia’s most celebrated river, "The Moldau." Julius Fučík, Bohemia’s "March King" will be heard in his "Entry of the Gladiators" and "Flames of Love Waltzes." Soloist for the program will be San Antonio native Tessa Gartin performing Carl Maria von Weber’s "Concertino for Clarinet." The program will conclude with Antonín Dvořák’s beloved "Symphony No. 8."
