The Briscoe Western Art Museum hosts the 2nd annual Briscoe Blast!: National Day of the Cowboy. This free community event features live music, art-making activities, Museum tours, games, and an authentic Chuck Wagon all in celebration of the legendary cowboy and vaquero – cultural icons of the American West.
Highlights of this year’s Briscoe Blast! include:
- Live music by Rhythm Rangers
- Stick Pony Making and Barrel Racing. Create your own stick pony and race it!
- Sun prints and dying with natural materials. Facilitated by the Lullwood Group
- Pony Printing Press. Ride a printing press and create own vaquero artwork. Facilitated by the San Anto Cultural Arts
- Briscoe Video Game. Featuring items from the Briscoe’s collection
- Cubetto, the Western Pig-bot Robot. Facilitated by Make San Antonio
- Chuck Wagon Cooking. Hands-on demonstrations of Cowboy treats led by World Champion Chuck Wagon Cook, Ed Parsons
- Lil Partners Zone. Chill out with a Western-themed book provided by the San Antonio Public Library
- Museum Tours. Adult, family, and bilingual groups
- Lone Star Food Truck
- Briscoe Passport: complete activities to redeem prizes
- Cool Down Corral: Enjoy refreshments and beer by Ranger Creek Brewing and Distilling. Area also includes Shady Spots with personal fans and misters.
