Brackenridge Park Conservancy will present its annual Family & Friends Fishing Day. The second annual event will feature more than 600 channel catfish, which will be released in the San Antonio River for junior anglers, their parents, and avid fishermen to enjoy.
Those aged 5-16 will be able to sign up for a fishing etiquette class taught by Fin Addict Angler Foundation instructors and volunteers and use fishing rods and reels for the morning. Youth will be taught the basics of fishing through fun educational methods.
Registered children will be supplied bait for fishing, while supplies last, and have assigned fishing areas if using loaner fishing equipment. A fishing rod loaner program is available for class participants, while supplies last, with adult ID retainer and $10 cash deposit. People can fish the whole day with their own fishing equipment and bait.
