The Gumbo Showdown is an annual fundraiser sponsored by the Black Alumni Law Association of St. Mary's University. Amateur chefs compete for the bragging rights of being crowned the King or Queen of Gumbo, voted on by those in attendance at the event. The gumbo entries are always "slap yo' Mama" good and there is also a silent auction. All proceeds benefit scholarships for current law students attending St. Mary's University.
