Bihl Haus Arts will present "Speaking of Beyond Service:" A Poetry and Prose Reading by Military Veterans. The event is organized by Vietnam veteran and participating poet Edward Guadalupe Acuña and Lucio Cody Jr., featuring Monica Baietti, Dario Beniquez, Amanda Cerreto, Sarah Colby, Eduardo Cavazos Garza, Sandra Flores-Surprise, Terri Sparrow Harmon, Don Mathis, Miranda Serra, Jason Surprise and Deb Wesloh.
The poetry and prose reading is in conjunction with the exhibition “Beyond Service II: An Exhibition of Artworks by Military Veterans" which continues through December 19. It features paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture by professional artists who are veterans. The exhibition also highlights works by veterans currently or previously enrolled in the Bihl Haus Forward, Arts! program: Grace Bermudez, Dan Gamez, Passka Prowell, Fermin Gutierrez, Kim Guidry, Helen Tiseth and Nancy Williams-Sykes. Many of these artists are being featured on the Bihl Haus Facebook page.
