Bihl Haus Arts will present a Black History Month poetry reading by poet Sanseria Murray. The reading is in conjunction with artist Wardell Picquet’s exhibition, "Essence and Style: The Afro Centric Woman," which highlights the strength and power of African-American women.
Murray is an author, poet, playwright, educator, director and actor. A self-described "word nerd" and theatre geek, Murray has taught theatre arts to numerous students, written lots of poetry and directed several plays throughout her career as an educator.
She has written an original gospel musical, an artist residency poetry curriculum, and has tons of legal pads full of poetry. Last year, she wrote her first book, Morning Star Rising: A Book of Poetry. Murray also offers workshops and retreats that allow others to discover their voice, process pain through poetry, and express joy and light through art.
