Aurora: A New One-Woman Show About Love, Memory, and Alzheimer’s

eventdetail
Graphic Design by Amy Abrigo

Aurora is a new one-woman show written and performed by Amy Abrigo, inspired by her grandmother and her experience living with Alzheimer’s disease. Through vivid storytelling, humor, and moments of quiet heartbreak, the piece explores memory, family, and the ways love endures even as memories fade.

This reading offers audiences an early look at the developing work and an opportunity to engage with its themes in an intimate, welcoming setting. Aurora reflects on caregiving, generational bonds, and the complex emotional landscape faced by families navigating Alzheimer’s and dementia, balancing tenderness with honesty and grace.

In addition to the performance, local organizations focused on Alzheimer’s awareness, caregiving, and aging will be invited to share resources with audiences prior to the show. A post-show discussion is also planned, creating space for reflection, conversation, and community connection.

Designed to spark empathy and dialogue, Aurora is both a personal tribute and a shared experience - honoring those we remember, those we care for, and the stories that shape us.
