Art in the Dark is one of San Antonio's most unique events, at which art displays are paired with food and wine, art discussions, and musical entertainment provided by visually-impaired employees, including the San Antonio Lighthouse Choir. Local artists donate their work, and guests peruse the pieces as if they were blind - no visual viewing of the art is permitted, only touching and inquiries to the artists in attendance. Guests also have an opportunity to bid on the art they have reviewed. When dessert is served, the winning bids are announced.
Proceeds from the event benefit the San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind, a Blind Children's Education Program.
