Founded by local business owners Susan and Pieter Kaars-Sypesteyn, Third Coast Charities helps facilitate change through action and builds relationships between the businesses and residents that live and operate in midtown San Antonio. The City of San Antonio is very gracious and offers programs to help assist residents in need, but their funding only goes so far. In the midst of rising costs when a neighbor has to decide between paying a light bill and food on the table, Third Coast Charities can step in where the district office can't.
Through community events, fundraisers, and sponsorship, Third Coast is able to start a dialogue with its neighbors, meet them face-to-face, and let them know that they are not just invested in their own businesses, but in them. Funds raised provide benevolence and physical assistance to neighbors in need: keeping lights on, patching roofs, cooking hot meals, providing basic needs, etc.
Your donation allows Third Coast to connect people and create partnerships around the city. They foster relationships between residents and businesses, seeking the most constructive solutions to better our neighborhood and communities.
El Mardi Gras is the annual fundraising event presented by Third Coast Charities. The 2019 event on February 17 at Paper Tiger will feature locally renowned chef: Pieter Sypesteyn of Third Coast Kitchen restaurant group, Jeff Balfour of Southerleigh, Chris Cullum of Attagirl, Louis Singh of Singhs, plus more. Enjoy local artists, vendors, and live music.
