The African American Quilt Circle of San Antonio will have a second opening for the exhibit on the African American Influences on San Antonio’s History, an official Tricentennial Event. The exhibition depicts significant time periods and people who have helped shape San Antonio’s history. It showcases events and people of the African American Community as far back as the 1800s. The goal of the exhibit is to create a collection of narrative quilts which shares experiences that influenced San Antonio’s African American Community.

All of the quilts are original designs based on each quilter’s research. Each quilter used a variety of mixed media techniques to create and embellish their quilts. Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through November 9.
