Slice of the Northeast
New York-inspired pizzeria opens new San Antonio location with more than 70 beers on draft
As nice as it'd be to escape to New York right now, it's not super convenient to drop everything and go. (Although with how busy the airport is, that seems to be a common solution.) For those who can't pick up and go, there's now more New York-inspired pizza in San Antonio.
Parry's Pizzeria & Taphouse has opened a second San Antonio location, this time in the Culebra Commons shopping center. The Denver-based pizzeria is known for its thin-crust pizza and an expansive menu of casual, Americanized Italian options: wings, sandwiches, pasta, calzone, and 72 beers on draft.
The beer is a big draw, and this Thursday celebrates a new brew: Real Ale Brewing Company is launching limited-release summer beer, made specially for the restaurant's grand opening. This beer, called Coney Island Creamsicle, joins other seasonal releases like Citrus Got Real and the Three On The Tree rice lager.
In addition to the thin-crust, big-slice pizza that does more than nod to a New York pie, this chain brings the Northeastern feel into the space itself. The interior design aims for "a unique, industrial New York warehouse feel," complete with signature exposed brick.
Everyone claims to have a New York slice, but the non-pizza menu items are what sets this pizzeria apart from other thin-crust slingers. And if embracing reality is more your style, reviewers love the distinctly more Texan "Italian nachos:" wonton chips with Alfredo sauce, mozzarella, and Italian meats and veggies.
Parry's Pizzeria & Taphouse is located at 6626 W. Loop 1604 N. Building 4. Operating hours are Sunday to Thursday, 11 am to 10 pm; and Friday to Sunday from 11 am to 11 pm.
