Cake Boss treats La Cantera to San Antonio's first Carlo's Bakery
If you have ever watched an episode of Cake Boss and wondered what all those treats actually taste like, here's your chance. Buddy Valastro’s Carlo’s Bakery is officially opening its doors at 7 am on March 24 at The Shops at La Cantera, according to a company rep, with a special visit from Valasto himself.
The chain is based on the bake shop featured in the hit TLC show. Valastro’s celebrity helped propel the chain to fame and now they are scattered across several U.S. cities, with two locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and one in the Woodlands near Houston. Openings typically draw big crowds.
Like the other Texas locations, the San Antonio outpost of Carlo’s Bakery will serve a variety of pastries like Napoleans, traditional cannolis, and cream puffs, as well as doughnuts, cupcakes, and cookies.
Lobster tails are the shop’s signature item. The puff pastry treats are stuffed with various fillings, including cookies and cream, chocolate hazelnut, and salted caramel.
Ready-to-eat cakes will be available in several styles including peanut butter, strawberry shortcake, red velvet, and strawberry cheesecake. If you want a custom cake similar to the lavish creations featured on the show, those are also available.
Carlo’s bakery joins Valastro’s family-friendly Buddy V’s Ristorante at the upscale shopping center, which opened in January.
Valasto and his family will sign autographs and be available for photos during the ribbon cutting, according to the event Facebook page. The first person in line will receive a free cannoli every day for 365 days. The first 500 guests will receive a free Carlo’s Bakery keychain.
