Hottest 'Hoods
Real estate experts say these are San Antonio's top neighborhoods right now
It's the season to predict the hottest neighborhoods in town, and the heat is rising in Lavaca. The central community ranks as San Antonio's hottest neighborhood for 2017, according to Redfin's annual predictions. The real estate brokerage firm determined the rankings based on search popularity in addition to feedback from local agents.
The median price for a home in Lavaca is $282,500, and houses are on the market for around 90 days.Although this historical San Antonio area is best known for its tight-knit community, its popularity is growing with newcomers.
"Lavaca has always been a go-to neighborhood," says San Antonio agent Melanie Salas. "But lately it's been even more popular with all of the transplants moving here from D.C., New York, and other big cities. It's a quiet, quaint neighborhood with a variety of home styles and types, but it's also really close to downtown so it appeals to those who want access to an urban lifestyle."
Sonoma Ranch in Helotes comes in as San Antonio's second hottest 'hood. Redfin data shows that outlying communities are trending because they have "the best balance of everything: quick access to public transit, trendy shopping and dining options, plus larger move-in ready homes with charm and price tags that are a little easier to bear."
With a median price of $352,200, homes in Sonoma Ranch are a little more expensive, but they only last about 69 days on the market.
The third hottest locale on Redfin's report is Mahncke Park. As the name suggests, the neighborhood boasts ample green space and is just a 10-minute drive to downtown. A home in this area will set you back $343,700.
Redfin's top San Antonio neighborhoods differ from Zillow's recent predictions for the highest growth neighborhoods in town, giving potential homebuyers a lot to think about. If you're in the market for a house, keep your eye on these popular areas.
