A Safe Bettany
Avengers star swoops in for appearance at San Antonio pop culture festival
San Antonio is about to land another superhero. Paul Bettany, who has starring roles in action flicks like Avengers and Iron Man, will make an appearance at Celebrity Fan Fest, the summer's pop culture extravaganza, the festival announced on March 26.
The London-born actor, who played Vision in the most recent film from the Avengers franchise, will appear during the first two days of the fest, which runs June 14-16 at Freeman Coliseum and Expo Hall.
“With much anticipation for the premiere of Avengers: Endgame, we’re excited to welcome Paul Bettany, who played the pivotal role of Vision in the film series,” said PMX Events president Bob Wills in a release announcing the news. “Our vision of becoming the pop culture event of the summer has been brought to life with this new major celebrity appearance.” (We, ahem, see what you did there, Bob. Pun definitely intended.)
Bettany isn't the only Hollywood star — or even the only Avenger — to hit Celebrity Fan Fest this summer. His fellow Avengers: Infinity War co-star Jeremy Renner is also on the slate.
Also appearing will be Amber Heard, Dolph Lundgren, Graham McTavish, Ray Fisher, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Robert Wuhl, Clare Kramer, Walter Koenig, Joe Flanigan, Robert Picardo, and Butch Patrick.
And it appears Jason Momoa just can't get enough of Alamo City. Aquaman is returning for this year's Celebrity Fan Fest after an appearance during the November 2018 event.
Despite the name, celebs aren't the only attraction. Attendees can enjoy special panels, hundreds of vendors, cosplay, gaming and VR demos, and a special exhibition called "Cars as Stars," which features 25 of the most famous cars from film.
Tickets for the festival are priced beginning at $45 per day for adults, $25 per day for 13-17 year olds, and $20 for children. VIP, 3-day passes, and packages with meet-and-greets are also available.
