Where to Shop
5 chic San Antonio shops for unique gifts and uncommon home goods
It happens to all of us. You're heading to a dinner party or a birthday bash and you suddenly realize you don't have a gift. Instead of picking up a generic bottle of wine or a wilting grocery store bouquet, pop into one of these locally owned shops for unique home goods, one-of-a-kind art, and chic clothing.
The Tiny Finch — 302 Pearl Pkwy. Ste. 116
Located in The Pearl, this sweet shop features everything from colorful Turkish rugs to handmade leather goods. The Tiny Finch's selection of women's clothing, complete with billowy silk shirts, linen dresses, and airy tunics, is perfect for combating South Texas summers. If you're heading to the house of a wine-loving friend, grab four of these handmade, Spanish-style wine glasses ($10 each). If you're really looking to impress your loved one on your next anniversary, consider snatching up this limited edition Vaquero Cowboy print ($150).
Evergreen Garden — 922 W. Hildebrand Ave.
Whether you need a gift for an avid gardener or an apartment-dweller in need a little greenery, Evergreen Garden is your stop for all things flora and fauna. Scoop up an array of stunning succulents for the millennial in your life, or stroll the grounds to find unique ceramics, planters, and whimsical gardening accessories. If you're unsure what to buy, the staff at this Beacon Hill spot is both friendly and very knowledgeable.
Fiesta on Main — 2025 N. Main Ave.
During our first ever trip to San Antonio, a friend pointed us towards Fiesta on Main, and we never looked back. This little slice of San Antonio heaven is so much more than a party store; it's an institution. One can spend hours perusing the aisles of handmade flowers, tin art, masks, and textiles. The store also has decorations and gifts for almost every occasion, ranging from anniversaries and birthdays to Our Lady of Guadalupe's feast day and Mexican Independence Day. Or, if you're heading out of town and looking for a host or hostess gift, we love these Guatemalan table runners ($17.50) for a unique (and relatively inexpensive) present.
The Sporting District— 302 Pearl Pkwy. Ste. 108
If it's good enough for Garden & Gun, it's good enough for us. (The perennial Southern mag named this shop one of "The South's Top Shops" in 2015.) Featuring only goods made in the southern U.S., The Sporting District is a go-to for well-crafted, unique finds for men. Have a hard-to-buy-for guy in your life? This suede billfold from Dallas-based Jack Mason ($115) may be just the answer.
Montage — 423 W. Grayson St.
For the effortlessly cool person in your life, look no further than Montage, a retro-chic collection of vintage finds and curated accessories. Score a vintage T-shirt for a one-of-a-kind birthday gift, or peruse the store's collection of '70s shades to gift the organizer of a girls' weekend. No matter who you're shopping for, you're guaranteed to find something truly original.
