Sweet San Antonio tea shop is bubbling up in Alamo Heights
Something's bubbling up in Alamo Heights. On November 18, Brew's Lee Tea will kick open its doors (get it?) at 4009 Broadway St. with a grand opening celebration. This sweet shop is the brainchild of Frances and Billy Lee, who met across the street from their new store while they were students at the University of the Incarnate Word.
After graduating from UIW in 2012, the couple traveled to their native Asia (Frances was born in the Philippines and Billy is a native of Taiwan) to learn the art of tea. Together, they worked under a brew master in the High Mountains of the Nangang District in Taiwan, studied at the American Barista & Coffee School in Portland, Oregon, and attended the Texas Coffee School in Arlington. Throughout their studies, it seems the couple had another idea brewing: a place of their very own.
Brew's Lee will offer a variety of sippers, including bubble teas, milk teas, and other specialty options. Lovers of the traditional cuppa shouldn't get steamed — the shop offers a variety of hot teas, too. Customers can customize their drink using tapioca pearls, coffee jelly, chia seeds, and lychee.
The shop's grand opening celebration begins Saturday, November 18 from 1 pm-3 pm. The first 150 guests will receive complimentary swag bag from Brew’s Lee Tea, plus a special surprise. The Lees timed the store's grand opening to coincide with the first night of UIW's annual Light the Way holiday celebration, so grab something to sip while you stroll around the festivities.
