BRINGING HOME THE BACON
San Antonio eatery gobbles up No. 1 spot on list of America’s best brunches
Sometimes it’s the creature comforts that get you through the day — especially during a pandemic. And sometimes those creature comforts come in the form of a big ol’ pile of sweet cream pancakes or a biscuit-drizzled Texas eggs Benedict.
According to a recent breakdown of Yelp data, one San Antonio eatery known for its good deeds as much as for its divine breakfast offerings is the top spot in the country for brunch. Comfort Café, a donation-based nonprofit restaurant that supports addiction-recovery programs, was named the No. 1 spot on Yelp’s recent list of the Top 100 Places for Brunch in 2021. (Seriously, try the sweet cream pancakes. They’re a life changer!)
To determine the list, the crowd-sourced review site dug into reviews received by businesses in the breakfast and brunch category, taking into considering both a restaurant’s rating, as well as its number of reviews.
While Comfort Café scooped up the No. 1 brunch spot ranking, it’s not the only San Antonio restaurant to make the list. Lunch counter Thyme for Lunch, which features so many tempting breakfast and brunch offerings that dining decisions can be quite difficult, landed at the No. 57 spot on the Yelp list.
Overall, Texas restaurants are serving up some pretty tasty breakfast and brunch dishes, if Yelp users have anything to say about it. In addition to the two San Antonio restaurants to make the list of top brunch spots, here are the other Texas eateries listed:
• Granny’s Tacos, Austin, No. 7
• San Pedro’s, Dallas, No. 37
• The Aussie Grind, Frisco, No. 62
• Austin Tea Xchange, Austin, No. 65
The state of California had the most restaurants listed on the brunch list, with 20 eateries listed.
