4 new stores bring denim, shoes, and Pokémon to San Marcos outlets
San Antonio's cost of living is already one of the lowest among Texas' major cities, but a trip to San Marcos can slash that even more for outlet shoppers. Now, shoppers at the San Marcos Premium Outlets, which calls itself the largest outlet destination in Texas, have three more options — and a fourth coming soon.
Paige, SAS Factory Shoe Store, and Pokemaniacs are newly open at the outlets at 3939 I-35, roughly 45 minutes to an hour outside of San Antonio, depending on traffic. Next up is Buckle, a denim-focused fashion retailer opening in summer 2024.
The newly opened trio represents a broad range of shoppers. Paige offers luxury basics, sticking to casual pieces like jeans, jumpsuits, blouses, and sundresses — but it also branches out into sandals, jackets, and swimsuits. It'll be tough to find much under $200 at original retail prices, but the outlet should push those numbers down.
Similarly casual, but much more focused on comfort is SAS Factory Shoe Store. Its styles are noticeably ergonomic (unfortunately science still hasn't figured out how to hide a comfortable shoe). Still, there are many types to choose from, including sandals, sneakers, and boots, the most incognito of the bunch. This locally owned store also operates at a similar — but slightly lower — price point.
Pokemaniacs goes in a completely different direction, as an Austin-area Pokémon card store. This nostalgic store tempts collectors in with the cards, and further entertains with plushies, wearable merch, figurines and other fun gifts.
On its way is Buckle, which carries a range of denim brands that might make shopping for jeans a little less tear-inducing. Prices range from very affordable (around $40) to high-end ($200+). This shop has a little of everything, from tops and dresses, to shoes, accessories, and matching sets.
This brings the store total at the outlets to about 130 currently open or coming soon, including luxury fashion, kid's apparel, jewelry, and food. A full list of stores is available at premiumoutlets.com.
