San Antonio musician opens new music venue in cool Pearl district digs
Live tunes will be pouring out of the Pearl district come August 23 when Jazz, TX hits the scene. San Antonio's newest music venue promises a regular lineup of jazz, blues, conjunto, Americana, and Texas swing.
"We are so thrilled to be opening and finally getting to share this with San Antonio," said local musician and Jazz, TX owner Brent "Doc" Watkins in a statement. "Lying at the crossroads of many cultures, San Antonio has always been a town where various music traditions come together. This rich history sets the scene for a club where jazz meets Texas and for what promises to be a unique experience."
The venue is located in the 3,500-square-foot basement of the old Pearl brewery's bottling department. In addition to live music, guests can enjoy a full menu of San Antonio-inspired eats by chef Lorenzo Morales — country-fried pork chops and chilaquiles alongside craft beers and sultry cocktails.
To celebrate the debut, Doc Watkins and His Orchestra will perform each night on opening week (August 23-27). The $50 tickets are going fast.
Standard operating hours, which begin on August 30, will be 5 pm to midnight Tuesday through Thursday, 5 pm to 2 am Friday and Saturday.
