San Antonio culinary hot spot deemed one of America's 50 best new restaurants
Four Texas restaurants woke up to good news Tuesday morning: Bon Appetit editors Andrew Knowlton and Julia Kramer included them on their list of America's 50 best new restaurants for 2016.
Hotel Emma, the stunning new space in the Pearl district represents San Antonio on the list. Austin grain-focused restaurant Emmer & Rye, Houston's farm-to-table Thai restaurant Foreign Correspondents, and Dallas taco joint Trompo round out the Lone Star contingent.
"The Hotel Emma would be a great home base for exploring everything that’s going on in the San Antonio restaurant world, except for one thing: We never want to leave the premises," writes the magazine.
The ideal day, says Bon Appetit, starts with a room-service breakfast, followed by a duck-confit muffuleta from onsite cafe Larder for lunch. In the evening, head to Sternewirth, the lobby bar, for drinks before dinner at Hotel Emma's bistro, Supper.
We'll learn if Hotel Emma joins the lofty ranks of Knowlton's prestigious "Hot 10" when he reveals his picks on August 16.
