San Antonio knots a top spot among best places to get married

As Valentine’s Day approaches, many love-struck folks are preparing to pop the question (in hopes of a happily-ever-after response) and start planning the perfect wedding. And, as it turns out, San Antonio is a great city to tie the knot.
Financial website WalletHub has released 2019’s Best Places to Get Married, and San Antonio ranks a blissful No. 22 overall across 182 U.S. cities.
Recognizing that nuptials are a costly and time-consuming affair — the average couple shells out $33,000 for their big day — WalletHub examined each city’s key indicators of wedding-friendliness. The study breaks down three key dimensions: costs, facilities and services, and activities and attractions and analyzes everything from average wedding cost to venues and event spaces per capita to hotel availability.
San Antonio scores best in the ranking on activities and attractions, coming in at No. 25 in that category (no surprise given our myriad of cultural venues and spaces). Weddings in Alamo City have big budgets, however, as San Antonio ranks 58th overall in costs. And the city also fared well in facilities and services ranking 30th overall.
Elsewhere in Texas, Austin took the top spot, landing at No. 10 with Houston at No. 13. Dallas ranks No. 20 with El Paso coming in at No. 23. Further down the list is Fort Worth at No. 56.
The best place in America to get married, according to WalletHub, is Orlando, Florida, (perhaps thanks to a certain Magic Kingdom). Happy couples looking to get hitched would do well to avoid Pearl City, Hawaii, which — trouble in paradise here? — somehow ranks last on the list.
