Off the Top of Your Head includes "Suite Dans Le Style Ancien" of French composer Mélanie Bonis, one of the most important women composers in France at the turn of the century. The program continues with Mozart’s "Piano Concerto no. 17 in G major," performed by artistic director Jeffrey Sykes in an arrangement made for the ensemble.
The centerpiece of the program is Kevin Puts’ solo cantata about the life of Albert Einstein, "Einstein on Mercer Street," his first major vocal work and considered to be his first masterpiece. The work was written for bass-baritone Timothy Jones, who will be joining to sing the role of Einstein.
