San Antonio Zoo, operated by the San Antonio Zoological Society, is a nonprofit organization committed to securing a future for wildlife. Through its passion and expertise in animal care, conservation, and education, the zoo’s mission is to inspire its community to love, engage with, act for, and protect animals and the places they live. The zoo welcomes more than a million visitors each year and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the Zoological Association of America and Humane Certified by American Humane.
Volunteer docents help the San Antonio Zoo reach its mission of providing a diverse educational experience to visitors. They are involved in a variety of educational opportunities, including touring school groups, interpreting zoo exhibits, and presenting education animals.
San Antonio Zoo's annual Zoo Ball is a glitzy, themed event held at the zoo, featuring food, drink, a live auction, and an official Zoo Ball After Party hosted by Zoomers.
Zoo membership includes year-round admission to the zoo, Bring-a-Friend Free Days, free or discounted admission to select AZA Zoos and Aquariums nationwide, discounted admission to ticketed events, and early entry during the summer.
Zoomers is a young professionals' membership organization of the San Antonio Zoo dedicated to expanding conservation and awareness of the zoo and inspiring a new generation of zoo supporters. Zoomers offers an intimate view of the zoo through events and private access to its programs.
