A new nonstop flight to the East Coast will depart Alamo City early next year. American Airlines will launch daily, nonstop service from San Antonio International Airport to Philadelphia International Airport, starting February 15, 2018.

"This new service provides much-needed capacity to the country’s Northeast region and will give passengers easy access to American’s primary transatlantic gateway," says a release.

Flights will depart San Antonio at 7:35 am daily, arriving at PHL at 12:15 pm. Return flights will leave PHL at 6:35 pm, arriving at SAT at 9:31 pm. American Airlines will use the 128-seat Airbus A319 for the new flight.

“We currently only have one other airline serving the Philadelphia market on a seasonal basis, so this is exciting news that underscores American Airlines’ commitment to the growing demand in our market,” says Russ Handy, aviation director for the City of San Antonio, in the release.

In addition to American Airlines, Frontier Airlines has shown increased interest in the market. This summer, the low-cost carrier announced the addition of eight new nonstop destinations to its San Antonio roster.
