The chore of hauling your clothes to a local laundromat, counting quarters, and waiting in a dull and unimpressive facility can be the low point of the week for many. Now, there’s a new alternative to the traditional laundromat experience with SpinXpress, which opened its second location in San Antonio earlier this month.
The 24-hour laundromat facility offers impressive upscale amenities, full- and self-service laundry, and 83 state-of-the-art washers and dryers. The company says it hopes to transform how people think of laundromats by creating a modern, relaxing, and enjoyable atmosphere for an otherwise mundane task.
“Coin laundry facilities for far too long have been mostly dingy, dirty, and not places anyone wants to be if they can avoid it,” said Bhavin Patel of SpinXpress in a release. “We want to provide the self-service and full-service laundry customer with a completely new and better experience than they have in a traditional laundromat.”
Located in the Valley View Shopping Center on the corner of Blanco Road and West Avenue, the new location boasts stylish comforts such as 55-inch HD televisions, free Wi-Fi, charging stations, and a cozy lounge area. For kids and the busy parent, the facility also features a children's Fun Zone complete with an iPad station, as well as work tables and desks.
In addition to self-service laundry, SpinXpress also offers a full-service option where customers can drop off their laundry and let the onsite staff wash, dry, fold, and package it for easy pickup.
SpinXpress also hopes to make a positive impact in the community through a donation partnership with Goodwill. Now, clothing left behind at all SpinXpress locations will be donated to local Goodwill stores, and a clothing donation station will be set up in each location for anyone to drop off items.
“We are excited to partner with SpinXpress on their innovative laundromat concept,” said Dawn Thurmond, assistant vice president of communications and engagement for Goodwill San Antonio. “Every donation collected at SpinXpress will help Goodwill fund education, training, and career services that empower individuals with barriers to find meaningful employment.”
The new location follows the city's first SpinXpress, which opened last year on South General McMullen Drive. Plans to open a third location on West Commerce Street are underway.
