The ballet Cinderella is one of Prokofiev’s most popular and melodious compositions, and has inspired a great many choreographers. The concert begins with Dukas’ symphonic poem The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. It is now best known as part of Walt Disney’s Fantasia featuring Mickey Mouse, but it was originally inspired by a poem by Goethe. Also featured is the most famous concerto for two pianos by the French composer Poulenc, performed by the dynamic twin-sister duo of Christina and Michelle Naughton.
