Chanukah on the River began in 1998 as a hopeful dream and conversation between Rabbis Chaim Block and Yossi Marrus of Chabad. The idea was to bring the Chanukah Celebration of Light to the heart of San Antonio, the Riverwalk.

The event has grown to one of the largest Jewish events in the state of Texas. It features famed Chanukah Boat Parade, interactive entertainment, Menorah lighting, special guests, and live concert.
