"Into A New West" is a summer contemporary art exhibition featuring nearly 50 works of art on loan from the Booth Museum of Western Art. Exploring cultural topics, such as the environment, feminism, and social commentary, this exhibit showcases a shift from traditional representations, to new ideologies and expressions of the West. Museum-goers will enjoy an exciting exhibition of Western contemporary art ranging in date from the 1960s to present. The works challenge the conventions of representation that hallmark traditional Western art and engage audiences with the culture of the present day.

Exhibition programming includes the following:

  • May 23: "Into A New West" Exhibition Preview Party - Attendees have the opportunity to preview the new exhibition while enjoying an open bar and hors d'oeuvres.
  • May 25: 210 West Gallery Talk: Briscoe Museum President and CEO, Michael Duchemin, offers a walkthrough of "Into A New West."
  • May 26: Summer Film Series: Lonely Are The Brave: Kirk Douglas plays a ranch-hand whose uncompromising spirit is severely challenged after he breaks out of jail. The series is curated by Professor Andrew Nelson, PhD, who will lead a discussion before the film.
